According to the resolution of the Ionian University's Senate dated March 2019, the responsibility for Museum’s operation is assigned to its Director, Stavros Vlizos, and to a Scientific Committee, which consists of the following members:
Elena Hamalidi, Associate Professor, Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Head.
Elena Hamalidi is an Associate Professor of Art History at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Greek art and new media art. As a member of the museum's committee since 2019, she has contributed to the organization of events and activities mainly related to the digital art collection and she is in constant contact with artists to formulate collaborations with the university museum.
Stavros Vlizos, Associate Professor, Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, Director of Museum.
Stavros Vlizos holds a degree in Archaeology from the University of Ioannina and a PhD from the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich. He worked at the Ministry of Culture and at the Benaki Museum as a researcher and scientific assistant to Director Angelos Delivorrias. He teaches as Associate Professor at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University a wide range of courses in Museology and Archaeology. He founded and directs the Museum Collections of the Ionian University and the Network of Museums of the Ionian Islands. As Scientific Officer of NSRF projects he coordinates research related to the promotion of archaeological heritage through new technologies. His research interests and publications refer to the promotion and management of cultural heritage and archaeological assets.
Maria Kannelopoulou - Botti, Professor, Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, member.
Maria Kanellopoulou-Boti is a Lawyer and Professor at the Department of Archives, Library and Museology. She leads the research group 'Information: history, regulation and culture IHRC'. She was appointed member of the Scientific Committee for Digital Services of the National Library of Greece, member of the IEEE World Commission for the Protection of Personal Data and member of the Executive Committee for Bioethics of UNESCO in Greece.
Vasileios Komianos, Assistant Professor, Department of Audio and Visual Arts, member.
Vassilios Komianos is Assistant Professor of Mixed Reality Systems at the Department of Audio & Visual Arts. He is active in teaching and research in the scientific field of interactive and multimedia mixed reality systems. In the context of his research interests, he is involved in virtual, augmented and mixed reality systems and environments, video games, interactive installations, communication and content personalization methods and the application of all the above in culture, audiovisual arts, entertainment and education. He has also been professionally involved in the design and implementation of audiovisual projects and systems in the cultural and creative industries and his works are hosted or have been hosted in permanent or temporary exhibitions and festivals. In addition, he has many years of professional experience in the design, development and support of ICT systems and software applications in the cultural sectors.
Vasileios Letsios, Assistant Professor, Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting, member.
Vassilis Letsios is a Permanent Assistant Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation. His research interests and studies concern 19th and 20th century Greek literature, with emphasis on issues related to lyricism, literary translation, etc. He is President of the Board of Ephorate of the Public Central Historical Library of Corfu and Director of the Translation Laboratory of the Greek Literature.
Marietta Minotou, Lecturer, Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology member.
Marietta Minotou is a Lecturer at the Department of Archives, Library and Museology. She was Director of the Central Service of the General State Archives from 2009 to May 2019. From 1989 to 2008 she was in charge of the Historical Archive of the "Konstantinos G. Karamanlis". She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Historical Ethnological Society of Greece.
The organizational structure further includes the Senate and the Rectorate of the Ionian University. A key aspect of this new organization’ museum policy has to do with the participatory approaches which are these days considered essential in transforming the museum into an institution that is actively involved in the life of the community, and one concerned with providing a platform and establishing enduring links with the public. Also, improving access and encouraging the greatest possible involvement of the local community.
The above scheme should promote outwardness and inclusivity, integrating the Corfiot people in the new museum environment and making good use of its exhibits. In other words, it is a body that will create new experiences based on the human-centered model of management and will remain committed to raising awareness of a cultural heritage.

Elsa Kosta
Elisavet Kosta is a Museologist-Researcher. She graduated from the Department of Archives, Librarianship and Museology of the Ionian University and in 2016 received her diploma from the postgraduate program in Management of Cultural Units of the Hellenic Open University. She holds a PhD from the Department of Archives, Librarianship and Museology at the Ionian University and participates as a contract Museologist in research programs.
Maria Tsouka
Maria Tsouka is a Museologist, graduate of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University and of the Postgraduate Study Specialisation in Curation: Theoretical and Practical Approaches of the Department of Fine Arts and Art Sciences of the University of Ioannina. As an undergraduate student she participated in the Museology Team. She is currently working in research projects at the Ionian University (AMREP, SOSAME, ARDION) and as a research associate of the Museum of the Ionian University in the fields of organization, communication and programming. Since 2020, she has taken over the secretarial support of the Ionian Islands Museums Network.
Agapi Sklavounaki
Agapi Sklavounaki is a graduate of the Department of Management, Economics and Communication of Cultural and Tourism Units of the University of Patras, specializing in Museology. In 2023, she received her diploma from the Postgraduate Program of Studies in Preservation and Management of cultural heritage of the Department of Environment of the Ionian University and worked as a researcher in the research project SOSAME. Today she is a PhD candidate at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology and a research associate of the Museum of the Ionian University.
Natasa Chytiri
Natasa Chytiri is a graduate of the Department of Teaching Technology and Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus. In 2007 she received her diploma from the Master's Degree Program entitled "Network-centric Information Systems" of the University of Piraeus and in 2023 she graduated from the Master's Degree Program Management of Cultural Information of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University. In addition to her collaboration with the Museum of the Ionian University, she worked as a researcher in the research project SOSAME.
Panagiotis Ioakimidis
Panagiotis Ioakimidis is an Economist – Researcher with history of work in the banking industry. He graduated from Panteion University and since 2021 has a PhD focused in Cultural Marketing from the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, at the Ionian University, specializing in Cultural Economics and Museum Marketing. His academic and research interests are related to the effects of culture on tourism and cultural management.
Konstantina Kosmadaki
Konstantina Kosmadaki is a Museologist and a graduate of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University. She started her collaboration with the University Museum by participating in the planning, organisation and implementation of its educational activities and events. Today she is a postgraduate student in Management of Cultural Information of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology and a scientific collaborator of the University Museum.
Extremely important in the work of the Museum is the contribution of students of the Ionian University. Through internships and volunteering, they plan actions, educational programs, events and participate in the promotion of the Museum. Some of the most dynamic presences are:
Eleni Panagiotou
Eleni Panagiotou is a student of the Department of Archives, Librarianship and Museology of the Ionian University, specializing in Museology. She has been involved in the documentation of the School History and Education Collection in the integrated Museum Plus management system and she participates in the working group for the promotion of the Ionian Islands Museum Network.
Pantelina Taraza
Pantelina Taraza is a student at the Department of Archives, Librarianship and Museology of the Ionian University, specializing in Museology. She participated in the Museology Team of the Ionian University, carrying out educational activities and in the writing group of the Management Manual of the Museum. She is responsible for organizing educational activities of the Museum Collections of the Ionian University.
Eirini Vita
Eirini Vita is a student at the Department of Archives, Librarianship and Museology of the Ionian University, specializing in Museology. She participated in the Museology Team, in the writing group of the Management Manual of the University Museum and remains a collaborator of the Museum in the field of educational activities.
Maria Papadopoulou
Maria Papadopoulou is a student at the Department of Archives, Librarianship and Museology of the Ionian University, specializing in Museology. She participates in the design and implementation of educational activities, in the writing group of the Management Manual, and is occupied with the social media accounts of the Museum Collections of the Ionian University.
Anna Mitretodi
Anna Mitretodi is a senior student of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University. She has been participating in the educational activities of the University Museum since 2023.
Afroditi Tzannatou
Afrodite Tzannatou is a senior student at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University. She has been participating in the educational activities of the University Museum since 2022.
Objectives
The primary goals of the Museum are defined as:

To support the educational efforts of the Faculties and Departments of the Ionian University at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

To support academic research and transmit research-based knowledge to both the university community and the wider society.

To create a hub for the preservation, exhibition and multifaceted promotion of the art and science behind typography, the historical development of education, as well as the arts in Greece overall.
In order to fulfill these goals, the museum must:

Generate both didactically-inclined and research-focused collections of objects and associated supervisory and educational material. This material should be maintained in exhibition spaces or in specially designed storage areas.

Accept items from other collections to be exhibited on its premises, either through permanent or temporary borrowing arrangements.

Collaborate with affiliated organizations in Greece and abroad.

Create and develop activities for the maintenance and use of its exhibits and material.

Organize periodic exhibitions relating to typography and the graphic arts, variously involve secondary education and foster artistic creativity. This should happen independently and in collaboration with affiliated organizations.

Organize training programmes aimed at both the academic community and the wider public.

Conduct research connected to museology, the graphic arts, as well as to secondary school education and artistic creativity at large.

Feature permanent and periodic exhibition spaces for the benefit of visiting schools and the public.

Organize lectures, screenings, exhibitions, educational and research programmes and other events deemed helpful in disseminating knowledge about the arts, history and sciences.
