The decision to establish the “Museum Collections of the Ionian University”, as published in the Government Gazette (G. G. 144 / 29.01.2019 / t.B ‘) in January 2019, outlines the collections to be included in the new Museum, listed as follows:

• Typography Collection.
• School History and Education Collection “Stefanos G. Priftis”.
• Collection of digital Culture and Arts.

Collection Management

Managing the Museum’s collections adheres to international and European standards: collections are organized and classified according to thematic/subject areas in fields of knowledge that correspond to respective scientific areas.

The primary obligation of the Museum is to preserve its Permanent Collections in good order, and to ensure appropriate conditions for the utilization and exhibition of the objects included in its collections.

Records are kept for these permanent collections including photographs and various documentation equipment. Documentation concerns the conventional and digitized processing of the collection, and organization, storage and distribution of information material. The Museum is housed in the premises of the Ionian University or in areas generally managed by the Ionian University. Responsibility for the custody and maintenance of the Museum’s artefacts lies with the institutional bodies of, and persons assigned by, the Ionian University.
