Description: The blackboard tablet was the surface used by pupils in the early 20th century for a notebook. With a pencil made of slate, called 'kontyli', they wrote on it. When the surface was full, they wiped it off with a cloth and some water to continue writing. By the 1950s the blackboard tablet was replaced by notebooks and the 'kontyli' by pencils.
