The Museum of the Ionian University invites you to an open discussion on Friday, January 17th, 2020. The event will take place at the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University.

The Library – Information Centre along with the Museum of the Ionian University organize a book launch on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at 20:00, at the Central Library of the Ionian University.

The Ionian University incorporates now a University Museum, an institution with a history in Europe since the 17th century. University museums belong to a special category of museums that are hosted in the premises of academic institutions and aim at promoting knowledge and familiarizing the academic community with museum spaces.

The Museum of the Ionian University, due to the declaration of Europe in a state of emergency by the European Parliament, organized the event - open discussion "Save the blue" on climate change.

The website of the Museum of the Ionian University has gone live! The website contains general information about the Museum, its collections as well as topics/aspects related to educational work, academic research and volunteering.

The Museum of the Ionian University in collaboration with the psychologist Mrs Maria Sagiadinou, of the Counseling and Student Support Unit of the Ionian University, implemented an experiential workshop dedicated to self-knowledge and empowerment through interactions of Museum space and Art.

As part of celebrating International Museum Day, the Museum of the Ionian University participated in events that took place around the world.

This educational action took place at the School Museum of Corfu and was concerned with the issue of diversity. Students of the 1st Primary School of Corfu, the General Lyceum of Agros participated, as well as adults.

The Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology and the Museum of the Ionian University organize events on Friday, May 17th, 2019, on the occasion of the International Museum Day 2019, which this year has as its theme "Museums as hubs of culture, the future of tradition".

On Friday,17th May, 2019 at 19.00 in the amphitheater 1 of the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology, Niki Nikonanou, Associate Professor of the University of Thessaly, will give a lecture on: "Participatory and inclusive Museum: invitations and perspectives for museum education".

The purpose of this educational activity was to introduce Corfiot society to its own typographic tradition, through the exhibits of the Typography Collection of the Museum.

The "Museum of Typography" educational programme is aimed at understanding how ‘museum’ operates as a term, and the differences between museums with respect to their thematic focus. Further, the programme aims to highlight the printing equipment collection of the University Museum.
